These are my first three images for the first Milestone project, they are inspired by daytime lighting choices. These are my second three images, they are supposed to be at sunset in the mountains.

Refining Our Remix Project

My MeshMixer Project: Display Images from Thingaverse: During the peer critique, I was overwhelmed with people praising my "Moving Mountains" concept, at first I wasn't sure if I liked it as much as they did, but their ideas and interpretations surrounding it actually made me appreciate my own work more. When considering which project I wanted to explore further, I personally wanted to do something that really challenged the concept of Remix Culture, which I think the contrast between these items really does that. The juxtaposition between the natural environment and the skateboard feels very appropriate for this project. Constructing a mashup of a skateboard, which is very urban, with something so natural that contrasts that completely is really interesting and thought provoking in a Read/Write Culture, like ours.

Remix Culture: This Feels Like a Parody

Remix Culture is a very interesting and unique concept that seems to be rejected and adopted constantly by the public eye. This concept is best described by the idea in which objects are personalized or changed by their respective owners.  1. Assignment 1: "Objectified: Response" - PlayStation 1

Image
For the first assignment in OBDF, I decided to model the first-generation PlayStation in Tinkercad. My reason for choosing to recreate this product came mainly from two reasons.  Firstly, the documentary Objectified focuses mainly on influential designs and products that were revolutionary in their respective fields. The PlayStation was one of the first take-home gaming consoles of the time and was very ahead of its time on what kind of games it could actually run. It was released in 1994 by Sony, it would be one of their most successful products to date. It was designed to be very streamlined and to fit into the average consumer's home easily. You'll notice I included the small details that made this console special, like the fans on the sides, logos, and controller plug-in areas.  Second, I actually owned one of these when I was growing up, and it sits on my shelf as a decoration now. I have great memories of playing Tony Hawks Skater or Spiderman.
