Refining Our Remix Project

During the peer critique, I was overwhelmed with people praising my "Moving Mountains" concept, at first I wasn't sure if I liked it as much as they did, but their ideas and interpretations surrounding it actually made me appreciate my own work more. When considering which project I wanted to explore further, I personally wanted to do something that really challenged the concept of Remix Culture, which I think the contrast between these items really does that. The juxtaposition between the natural environment and the skateboard feels very appropriate for this project. Constructing a mashup of a skateboard, which is very urban, with something so natural that contrasts that completely is really interesting and thought provoking in a Read/Write Culture, like ours.

PAPERCRAFT: Prototype

 I had a hard time with my papercraft prototype. There was actually a list of things that went wrong, but it was an awesome learning experience.  Firstly, my tabs were way too small, which was frustrating when I needed to cut them bigger. Secondly, I underestimated the power of scoring before folding, because by the time my shape looped back around the material had been taken up by the folds, making it impossible for me to properly complete the silhouette.
